Our Offerings

Dangerous Documents

Emails can be a blessing and a curse. They improve our efficiency. They can humiliate us and ruin our careers.

For example, General Petraeus, the former head of the CIA, had to resign, pay a $100,000 fine, and was on probation all  because of emails. Emails he sent to his biographer.

The mayor of Detroit sits in jail because he lied about the text messages he sent to his chief of staff and mistress.

As you have read in the newspapers, numerous companies were criminally indicted and paid multi-million dollar settlements. They have learned that a seemingly innocuous phrase such as "This will negatively impact the bottom line…" in a private email from an employee can be used to undermine the employee’s credibility, cost the organization money, and have a negative effect on the organization’s reputation.

Participants will leave the session with actionable and practical information that they will be able to use immediately and protect themselves and the agency from such unwelcome surprises.

Writing Under Pressure

Employees need to write public documents in a clear and well-organized manner. Under short deadlines, they need to be able to quickly create documents that are correct, complete, and concise.

During this session, the instructor will demonstrate techniques that will help employees organize most documents in under 60 seconds, eliminate wordiness, distinguish between active and passive voice, how to use appropriate tone with managers, peers and subordinates and a host of other techniques to ease the stress of writing under pressure.

Participants will leave the session with actionable and practical information that they will be able to use immediately and protect themselves and their employer from such unwelcome surprises.

Strategies in Meetings

In a typical week, student leaders and staff members spend a great deal of their time in meetings. Throughout every meeting, each person is sending a message about who he/she is, what the person’s abilities are, and how much influence the person has.

During this session, the instructor will provide techniques that will improve your ability to persuade others to pursue a particular course of action. You will also take part in a facilitated session in which the is result is created, understood, and accepted by all of the participants.

Participants will leave the session with actionable and practical information that they will be able to use immediately.

Talking to Decision Makers

Executives are busy. They have too many things to do, and not enough time to do them. When talking to executives, employees might ramble unnecessarily. Professionals who can describe an issue in 30 seconds or less are considered assets to an organization and get rewarded with promotions and outstanding performance reviews.

During a high energy, interactive session, the instructor will demonstrate how to prepare and describe an issue in 30 seconds using the "What," "So what," "Now what" pattern. She will also explain how to respond to probing questions. After the formal presentation, you will be divided into teams, provided case studies, and be given the opportunity to apply the concepts.

Participants will leave the session with actionable and practical information that they will be able to use immediately and protect themselves and the agency from such unwelcomed surprises.

Thinking On Your Feet ~ Shine Under Pressure

When called on unexpectedly during an important meeting, you want to come across as poised, knowledgeable, and credible. It is important to both you and your organization that your ideas are heard, and your opinion is taken seriously. Being able to speak in an organized and concise fashion is a skill that can be easily mastered. In a hands-on session, you will be exposed to a process in which you will learn to organize information immediately and then craft a response that is clear, concise, and substantive. After hearing about the technique, you will have an opportunity to participate in exercises and practice responding effectively in different situations.

Participants will leave the session with actionable and practical information that they will be able to use immediately and protect themselves and the agency from such unwelcome surprises.

The need financial literacy training is every so painfully obvious. With 7 out of 10 American workers stating that their financial problems are their most common stressors. A new survey from the National Endowment for Financial Education finds that nearly 9 in 10 (88%) Americans say the COVID-19 crisis is causing stress on their personal finances.  Stress related to a financial situation often creates or exacerbates chronic medical conditions like digestive issues, back pain and diabetes.
